TREK TO KUMARA PARVATHA....An awesome experience!!

I am Prathik Bhat and my diploma mate Pradeep , currently working at ABB started our journey on 08/06/2012 night.

My luggage includes 2 pairs of 3/4th , 3 pairs of tie shirts, 1 woolen sweater, 1 big jerkin, 1 box full of chapatis(24 in numbers), 1 bottle of jam, 2 packs of tango, 1 glucose packet, brush, toothpaste, torch light, 2 pairs of inner ware, 1 big plastic cover enclosed in one big trekking bag..I was wearing a tie shirt and jeans. Since tickets were not booked we both got into KSRTC bus at jalahalli cross around 9:00 PM. We thanked God as we got two seats without much problem. Reached dharmastala on 09/06/12 around 4:00 AM morning. We went straight near to Netravathi river finished our bath at around 5:45 AM.

Around 6:15 we were settled down in a queue and because we were early it was quite a small queue. We finished our journey around 7:00 AM.

Took some snaps in between and we got back to bus station around 7:30 AM morning.

Prathik Bhat

We caught a KSRTC bus and reached around 9:00 AM to kukke sree subramanya kshetra. We joined three more named bharath who is my engg college mate and his collegue Ravi and his cousin Suchith who just joining to diploma

Here goes the snap took on a KSRTC bus moving from Dharmastala to kukke.

As expected I really loved the journey from Dharmastala to kukke as it was full of greenary around, very nice atmosphere with nice breeze. Driver looks well trained on the road travelling 70km/hr and finally around 9:00 AM, me and Pradeep reached kukke where I was being awaited by a shock!!!

You people must be curious what it might be...right?? Just scan through some more snaps...

Ok! Let me tell u what it is which given me much shock is that as soon as I met three more guys...They given me a news saying they lost there expensive shoes..One is woodlands which costs around 3000 and another was around 2000, so totally a loss of 5000 and what even much shocking for us is that we might have to drop our idea of climbing hill... :(

Now they went on search of slippers and me, Pradeep went to have darshana at temple...Since we were pretty aware that we might also lose our shoes we were very careful and one by one completed darshana instead of both together....We completed our darshana around 9:30AM and what we did afterwards...whether we went to climb the hill or we dropped our idea...To know more just go through... :)

Guys, life is full of crossroads and forks, and at times we have to take chances to choose a path at a fork. We have taken chances at every point in life, like deciding which school to study in, the college to get into, coke or Pepsi, Nike or Reebok (or even Adidas), the girl to go out with on a date, the career to choose and things like that. In front of these major decisions of life, the decision taken to go climbing the hills is nothing and Yes u r right..! We were so much in excitement that there are no chances of dropping our idea...Both Bharath Rl and Ravi bought new slippers. But there was one more stoppage. Heavy rain started and we were praying god to make our way easier and within some 15-20 mins rain stopped and yes, we were on our way... All bought new umbrella's and we reached the starting point of kumara hills...

This is the post after travelling 4kms above the hill... U might be wondering why there are no posts in between...The only reason is leaches, leaches and lots of leaches...In number I might have beaten more than 50 leaches which were on my shoes and inside.... ....Finally we reached the famous bhat's house which is 6kms from ground..Watch out for the snaps......Will be continued....Excitement has just started for us...

Note: The best medicine to avoid leaches is snuff and salt mixed together tied in a cloth and apply water and water content should be rubbed all across your shoes

Ravi Guddad                              Bharath R.L

This is the famous Bhat's house. We reached around 2:00 PM afternoon. He served us nice food which was very much in need for us as we were very hungry and tired. We all had full meals and slept for around 2 hours. When we wake up it was almost 5:15 PM in the evening. Now there was one more dispute among us....U may be thinking now what??....Keep on thinking and scan through few more pics...U will come to know....

Prince Sucheth , U can call him a crazy child.... He is the one who made small dispute...He wanted to continue the journey but many of us were not encouraging him,
as the climatic conditions are poor for travelling and since he is just passed 17 so called the pure teenager was pretty more excited than us... So what we did...Did we listened to him or we made some different plan? Just wait and watch...

You must me wondering which is this place.....Yep there is one more house of forest guard and this is verandah in front of his house...We finally decided to stay back in his house and continue our journey for the next day.....!

This is the forest guard house and he was kind enough to give us some space in his office for our stay at night....It was 6:30 evening and we went to roam around...U can view some of the snaps near to forest guard house where we spent nice time...

You might be thinking what

I am having....

That's Guava fruit which was
very delicious and abundant. You can also observe that there was full of fog around and it was tremendous experience for us....

This is the pic taken inside forest guard house where I am busy, cleaning the room.....

Our crazy child took broom only for a snap shot...

Fresh morning on 10/06/2012. I and pradeep woke up around 6:00 AM in the morning finished my brushing and had a nice bath. I loved that bath as its my favourite "hande snana" in that chill morning. Our guys were still sleeping and I had to wake them up. Around 7:00 AM we started to continue our journey and the so called forest starts from here...We have to pay 200 per person for indian nationals and 1000 for NRI's to enter into this area. We were 5 in number but since I known the local language Tulu , forest guard given exception for two members and we finally ended up paying 600 bugs but my friends, believe me its worth. Now our actual journey towards top started....

Here is some of the snaps on our way to KP Top....We left all our luggage at forest guard house and only some eatables we took for our breakfast...

This is one of the point near Mantappa where water is available. Also this is the place where I ended up my journey during my first visit and from here its pretty new for me even...

This is another famous place called Mantappa where we had our breakfast.and took some snaps..But as our journey begins there was one more stoppage....I think u can guess what it might be...For the answer u need to wait and watch....

Umbrella is on....means, yes the stoppage is heavy rain and every one was having umbrella except me...U might be scolding me for not taken umbrella...Don't be because as always I think'ed in a different way....Just check on next pic...U will come to know...

Haha...This is called complete water proof.. I took a big plastic cover and was stitched it properly at home so that only my head was out and complete body was covered under plastic cover and definitely it worked well...U also should know that the two of our guys umbrella got broken but with me no problem at all as not even a single drop of rain went inside....May be everybody was jealous of me at that point of time haha.. Now scan through some more nice pics we took on our way...

The most awaited pics are on its way.....One of the top hill well known as sheshagiri can be seen on pics...Visibility was very low as the entire place is fully covered with fog...We were in a feeling of standing on top of the cloud....It was giving us immense pleasure which cannot be explained in words.
From here its a path of 1km for the kumara parvatha. But since there was time limitation for us we started getting down back to our civilization... In the forthcoming pics you can see the beautiful nature, the snap shot with Bhat and back to subramanya temple...This is my first trial of narrating my own experiences...Hope you liked it! Let me know if you are...

Uff!! Back to civilization..:))

This trek is must once in life time!!

Thank you all for visiting my blog...:)
